I have an access point (AP) to establish the Ethernet connection for my old iMac G3 that has no wireless. My in-laws D-Link router connected to cable modem. After some fiddling (better read the manual on the CD that came with the Linksys AP), I got to work and now iMac is connected to the Internet. I use it as a client AP, which receives a signal from the wireless router and converts it into an Ethernet signal. (I had to change the AP mode, the client using a Web browser http://192.168.1.245/) manual says that when used as an AP client, only works with the Linksys router or another Linksys AP. Well, surprise, surprise can work with D-Link router as well. Extrapolation, I can say that the AP should work with any router behave well with the correct settings.

| Review by The Buck (SACRAMENTO, CA, US) 2010-02-05 I purchased this with the idea of only using it as a wireless access point. For that, it is awesome and I have no problems. I did however need to call support to help me change the IP address etc to get it set up. That went farely well (India) but after 15 minutes, it was working like a charm. Great product, small form factor, no hassle after initi... Read more TRENDnet 54Mbps Wireless reviews | ||

| Review by Pioneer B (Minnesota US) 2010-03-05 so the product is fine for the most part. I would actually rate it 5/5 under normal situations.... But when I went to register it with Netgear they said it's not in support and I had to pick a date 120 days back to register it. Since they only provide 90 days of support I found this odd. The solution was to prove to them that I just... Read more NETGEAR 5 GHz reviews | ||

| Review by Hill Billy-Bob (Pikeville, TN USA) 2010-02-21 The WAP3205 seems to function well in client mode. However, when I tested the repeater mode I spent some time looking for a way to specify a second channel number for communication with clients of the WAP3205. A ZYXEL representative replied to my inquiry by confirming my conclusion that all wireless communication is done on the same channel. ... Read more ZyXEL WAP3205 Wireless reviews | ||

The TRENDnet 54G drive is a nice, good choice, works well. The installer might be a little 'difficult if you're not very technical. I think it has more features at a price lower than that of the access points more. Over all a solid product.

Link: www.buy.com A large problem with many wireless networks is the poor coverage area of standard Wireless networks. Hawking solves this problem with a Hi-Gain antenna that attaches directly to the external antenna connector of your Wireless Access Point or Wireless Network Adapter. By increasing the strength of your external wireless antenna, your Wireless Network distance, signal strength and performance is significantly improved. Simply point your Wireless Directional Antenna in the direction of your Access Point or Network Adapter and easily extend your signal range and quality.
I have a Netgear wireless router WNHDE111 added 2.4Ghz/11n I have with 5GHz single router, rather than going to dual-band.
WNHDE111 is a relatively simple configuration, and I had the opportunity to network in minutes. Then I tried with one of my laptops, which Intel 4965AGN mini-PCI card that supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz (latest drivers Intel PROSet).
Windows 7 seems to 300Mbps when I connected to WNHDE111, as expected, so I tried one Speedtest ([...]) ([...]). Speakeasy
